Let’s Talk About Pecans

April is National Pecan Month and we have some pretty cool local events happening in Las Cruces.

1. The inaugural Las Cruces Pecan Festival is coming to Young Park April 12-14, 2024. This three-day event celebrates the rich pecan heritage of the Mesilla Valley region, which produces more pecans than anywhere else in the United States.

   The festival kicks off on Friday, April 12 from 3-9pm with a ribbon cutting, over 70 vendors including 20 food trucks, a beer garden, and live music all day long featuring headliner the Yarbrough Band. Saturday's hours are 10am-9pm with more of the same plus cornhole competitions, cooking demonstrations highlighting pecans, and West Texas as the music headliner. Sunday runs 10am-5pm.

   In addition to the tasty pecan-themed foods, visitors can look forward to activities like a children's pecan hunt with prizes, raffles, and a cornhole tournament. The festival also features pecan food, art, and vendor competitions.

   With fun for the whole family, the Las Cruces Pecan Festival promises to be a cracking good time celebrating one of New Mexico's most iconic crops. Get your tickets now for this inaugural event!

2. Borderland Storytellers is hosting an event highlighting the history of Stahmann Farms on April 19th. KRWG Public Media invites you to join us for a special “Borderland Storytellers” television taping that will highlight the personal stories and rich history of Stahmann Farms in southern New Mexico.
