Hello {{First Name}}
Sometime between last Friday and this coffee, we slipped past 11,000 subscribers. No balloons, no parade (except in Mesilla 🙂 ) — just a lot of people in the Mesilla Valley who want the good stuff without the noise. Thank you for being one of them.
Speak Up for New Mexico’s Roadless Public Lands
New Mexico’s roadless public lands could lose protections that help keep them safe from new mining, logging, drilling, and road construction. This public hearing is a chance to make your voice heard before the comment period closes Sept. 21—because once roads cut into these wild places, the damage can last generations.
Tuesday, Sept. 15 - 6–7 PM
Las Cruces WIA Building
340 N. Reymond St., Las Cruces
Hosted by Women Who Explore. Free; reserve a spot on Eventbrite.
Maternal Health Day This Saturday at Vida Midwifery
Maternal health does not end when the baby is born. The weeks and months after delivery are when families often need the most support — and when it can be hardest to know where to turn.
This Saturday, Vet-HER-an Enterprises and Vida Midwifery are hosting a free Maternal Health Day at the birth center on Gladstone. It is a two-hour open house for pregnant people, new moms, postpartum families, partners, and anyone helping raise a baby in Las Cruces and Doña Ana County. You can talk with doulas and midwives, learn about pregnancy and postpartum recovery, ask questions about maternal mental health, and connect with local resources in one place.
That kind of gathering matters here. Southern New Mexico still has too few easy on-ramps to postpartum care, lactation help, and community support. Putting those people and services in the same room — at a local birth center — is a practical way to close that gap.
Saturday, September 19, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Vida Midwifery
3008 Gladstone St, Las Cruces, NM 88012
Free. No registration required. Event details
Organizations that serve pregnant people, babies, or postpartum families can still inquire about vendor or resource-table space: [email protected]
Spaceport America Open House
Spaceport America’s 2026 Open House is Saturday, September 26, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. at the world’s first purpose-built commercial spaceport (County Road A021, Truth or Consequences) Free, but you have to register first. Expect rockets and unusual aircraft, STEM stations, speakers, local food trucks, and a chance to wander a facility that is usually locked down.
Register here: Eventbrite or via spaceportamerica.com/open-house.
