Take the drive down Highway 28. Old Mesilla falls behind you, the vines open up, and then the Organ Mountains are just there, filling the whole sky like they showed up for the occasion.

That is Rio Grande Winery. A patio set in the middle of it, a glass that does not need a speech, and an afternoon that turns into evening without anybody checking the time. People come out for a pour and end up staying because the light on those mountains keeps changing.

Sip & Slice is on if you want pizza with it. The $10 version lands Wednesday and Saturday. Mostly, though, this is the drive you take when you want Las Cruces to show off.
