Rich Kahle and his Young at Heart Senior Program
Young at Heart Seniors
I stopped by Bionic Barbell yesterday to meet Rich Kahle and an amazing group of his senior students. Just look at those smiles!
Rich runs the Young at Heart Senior Program at Bionic Barbell and specializes in teaching seniors how to use the gym equipment safely and confidently. He also offers classes in Yoga, Qigong, and Tai Chi, plus excellent post-rehab workouts.
Staying active as we age isn’t just nice — it’s essential. Regular exercise helps seniors maintain muscle strength and bone density, improve balance to prevent falls, support heart and joint health, boost mood and mental clarity, and keep living independently with energy and confidence for years to come. That’s exactly why programs like Young at Heart are so valuable.
Rich also showed me their specialized Keiser fitness equipment that’s perfect for seniors. Instead of fixed weights, it uses smooth pneumatic resistance that you can adjust in tiny increments — even mid-repetition! This gives you incredibly precise, joint-friendly, and targeted training.
The positive energy from that group was contagious. Highly recommend local seniors to check it out and visit with Rich soon to get started! You will also see him at this years Dona Ana County Senior Olympics events with his students! 🙂
Note: Rich mentioned that for many their insurance will cover part or most of the cost and when you sign up for a membership you get 30 days free.
