White Sands National Fossil Day

White Sands is on this year’s official National Fossil Day poster, and the park is running programs through October 28 on the Ice Age footprints preserved in the dunes. The main day is Wednesday, October 14, from 10 am – 2 pm in the visitor center courtyard, with park scientists and rarely shown footprint casts.

Around that, “Ice Age Life Within” is a drop-in on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in October, 10 am – 11 am, at the visitor center courtyard. Ranger-guided walks on the 0.8-mile Ice Age Trail are Wednesday, October 7 and Wednesday, October 28 at 10 am. On Sunday, October 25, ranger David Bustos gives a fossil-footprints talk at Full Moon Night. The park’s Full Moon page lists 5:30 pm. The news release also says event parking opens at 4 pm and the presentation starts at 6:30 pm, with the park open until 8 pm. Programs are free. The park entrance fee still applies.

Weekend Warrior Special - Local & Easy

When it’s time for dirt work, landscaping, or a weekend project around the house, Zia Equipment Rentals makes it easy. This is one of the few locally owned equipment rental companies in the Las Cruces area—and it shows in the service.

Kevin will talk through your job, help you choose the right Kubota skid steer or mini excavator, and deliver it ready to work. No pressure, no confusion, just clear advice and reliable machines. Their popular Weekend Warrior deal lets you pay for one day and keep the equipment through the weekend.

Fast, friendly, and focused on getting homeowners the right gear the first time. That’s the Zia difference.
